Keeping Their Show on the Road
Top Vocalists Rely on Clear Voice
by Elianne Halbersberg
Caring for one’s voice is a full-time job for any singer. If things go awry during a performance, a vocalist’s livelihood is on the line. Thanks to Clear Voice, problems can be handled quickly and naturally with no side effects.
"There are many remedies for singers," says company manager Patrick Sattley, "some being tea, honey and lemon, and olive oil. Clear Voice takes the best of all remedies to give a quick, easy solution to moisturizing the throat and soothing any scratchiness or irritation. With Clear Voice, you can sing through the entire song without coughing or cracking during your show. You can use Clear Voice as often as needed, as it is a safe, all-natural blend of herbs including Tylophora, Osha Root, Aloe Vera, Marjoram and vegetable glycerin. It can be used to warm up the voice, in-between songs, and even after a show to soothe scratchiness and prepare your voice for the next day."
Clear Voice spray comes in six flavors: Original, Cherry-apple, Peach, Honey-lemon, Fresh Mint and Pina Colada. According to Sattley, the product is a favorite among musicians. "There are other great products out there," he says, "but we get so much feedback that Clear Voice is what they love and take with them to every show. Many rock bands use Clear Voice and find it helps them best when they are on tour, with night after night of shows. Some of the more famous bands that we are currently endorsing are Ill Nino, Static-X, June, the Junior Varsity, U-Turn, NYC The Band and Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer.

All Music, All the Time
Long Island’s Number One Music Store
For over 23 years, All Music has been providing the world's greatest instruments to millions of satisfied customers. All Music was started by veteran musician and businessman Irwin Natman. After managing a large chain store for a number of years, Natman decided he wanted to create a place where a "commissioned sale" was not the ultimate goal.
All Music prides itself on putting its customers first. "We take the time to talk with our customers and make sure we are addressing all of their needs," says co-owner Guy Brogna. "We answer their questions correctly, even if it takes extra time to get those answers. Our customers appreciate the service we give them as much as we appreciate the business they give us."
With over 10,000 instruments in stock and over 1000 guitars on display, All Music’s mission is to educate customers and cultivate lifelong musical relationships. They remain dedicated to one-on-one service, with an overwhelming majority of their customers being in-store buyers rather than online orders. All of these things, says Brogna, are what make All Music "a destination when shopping for musical gear. Our interest in the importance of musical education separates us from virtually all of the competition. We currently have over 500 students studying all styles and levels of music in our on-premises school, AMI Studios. We offer private instruction on all instruments, including voice, employing state-of-the-art techniques and a highly qualified teaching staff."
You don’t have to reside in Long Island to enjoy doing business with All Music. "We can offer musicians outside of Long Island a multitude of benefits," says Brogna. "We have great pricing, incredible selection and a very knowledgeable staff. However, I think the most important thing All Music offers is family. Our mission statement is to make every pro musician, beginning student and novice feel like part of the All Music family. From our expert repair and service department to our on-floor sales staff to our teaching and education department, we’re there for you, our valued customer, 100 percent of the time. We know that once you’ve experienced our All Music family, you’ll come back time and time again."

Sabian Artists Highlight 2006 Modern Drummer Festival
The 2006 Modern Drummer Festival, an annual event that features performances by today's most notable percussionists, spotlighted two of Sabian's hottest players, Ronald Bruner Jr. and Bobby Sanabria. Over the two-day festival nearly 6,000 drumming fans filled the seats at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, N.J., to see the stellar lineup in action.
Twenty-four-year-old Bruner Jr., who performed his solo set with a sequencer and loops, demonstrated an uncanny talent, amazing technique and an in-depth understanding of odd times that earned him a standing ovation. Bruner plays jazz and fusion with such greats as Kenny Garrett, Stanley Clarke and George Duke, as well delivering rhythmic energy for Suicidal Tendencies.
On day two of the show, Sanabria and his group, Asencion, kicked off with traditional Afro-Cuban jazz before getting into some of Sanabria's latest compositions. With brief solos starting on brushes and segueing to drumsticks, Sanabria revealed his diverse influences, including Mongo Santamaria and Tito Puente, as well as time spent with the legendary Mario Bauza and saxist Paquito D'Rivera.
Sanabria, who recently had a street named after him for all his contributions to promoting music and education in New York, is a professor at the Manhattan School of Music and associate professor at the New School University Jazz & Contemporary Music Program. He was recently inducted into the Bronx Walk Hall of Fame.
Sabian is the world's largest cymbal maker. For further information about Sabian or its products, visit www.sabian.com.
